Start with the goal
Write down one primary goal: explain a service, introduce the company to partners, support a product launch or document an event. If there are several goals, prioritise them. One film will not necessarily work equally well for every audience.
Define your audience and platform
Who will watch the video, and what do they already know about you? Will you show it at a meeting, publish it on your website or run it on social media? These answers shape the length, pacing, framing and need for subtitles.
Gather the content
Identify the key facts, people and product you need to show. Arrange access to locations, brand materials and the relevant contacts. Flag anything that must not be filmed or published.
Share references
Two or three examples are enough. Explain what you like: the lighting, atmosphere, editing or interview style. That is more useful than asking to copy someone else's entire video.
Set a budget and timeline
Share a budget range and the date you need the finished video. Allow time for preparation, filming, editing and approval. Appoint one person to bring together feedback from your team.
Agree on deliverables
List the main version, shorter edits, vertical adaptations, languages and subtitles. These requirements are easier to plan into production than to add after editing is complete.
